Frequently asked questions about bracelet size Why does the same length fit differently? The stated length of a bracelet is the flat measured total length. That's how it lies on my table when I string it – a straight line of beads. But as soon as you close it into a circle, something happens: The beads sit on the outside of this circle, and the space in the middle gets smaller. The thicker the bead, the more space is lost inwards. What remains is the effective inner circumference – and only that matters for your wrist. Did you know? The formula behind it is surprisingly simple: inner circumference = total length minus (3.14 × bead diameter). For 8 mm beads, you lose 2.5 cm from the total length – for 4 mm beads, only 1.3 cm. Exactly this difference of just over a centimeter determines whether a bracelet fits comfortably or pinches. What really fits my wrist? Ideal for layering, if you want to wear several bracelets together, and beautiful on delicate wrists. With faceted beads like the Lapis Lazuli, each small surface catches the light anew. 6 mm – the understated all-rounder. Modern, suitable for everyday wear, goes with any outfit. If you're unsure, choose this size. 8 mm – striking and prominent. The classic men's standard and the size in which the structure and color play of a stone come out most beautifully. With Rainbow Obsidian, you can really see the shimmering bands only from this bead size. For men, the standard length is 20 cm. 18 cm fits very slender wrists, 22 cm for stronger ones – or if the bracelet should hang noticeably loose. Combine several bracelets When layering – i.e., wearing several bracelets next to each other – a simple rule of thumb applies: Measure the same size for each bracelet. They will slide slightly over each other on your forearm and won't bulk up. It looks particularly beautiful if you mix bead sizes: a delicate 4 mm next to a striking 8 mm creates depth. And a dark stone like black tourmaline makes any light color next to it shine even more. ✨ How do I keep my bracelet beautiful for a long time? A high-quality elastic band maintains its shape for years. It adapts slightly when worn, but does not stretch out with proper handling. The most important step: Roll the bracelet over your hand onto your wrist instead of pulling it wide apart. When you pull, you stress the band at the same spot – and eventually, it will give way there. Rolling distributes the tension evenly. Also, take off your bracelet when showering, swimming, and exercising. Not because of the stones – most are robust – but because of the elastic band, which doesn't like prolonged moisture and soap residue. Softer stones like Lepidolite with a Mohs hardness of only 2.5 to 3 should be handled with care anyway. This is due to the difference between the flat-measured total length and the effective inner circumference. As soon as the bracelet is closed into a circle, the beads sit on the outside and take up space inwards – the thicker the bead, the more.
