Tumbled Clear Quartz pieces are companions for on-the-go. They fit into any pocket, feel smooth in the hand, and are also ideal for children's hands or as a small gift. A worry stone in a disc or UFO shape is slightly larger and flatter, perfect for holding between your fingers during meditation or a phone call.

Spheres, Polygons and Bowls

A rock crystal sphere radiates evenly in all directions. In crystal healing, it represents wholeness and harmony, and for centuries it has been a tool for meditation and contemplation. A polished polygon or a double-terminated crystal combines both principles: it has points at both ends and is intended to conduct energy in two directions. A rock crystal bowl is a piece of jewelry in its own right and, at the same time, a beautiful place to store smaller stones and jewelry.

As a pendant or necklace, you carry the rock crystal directly on your body and have it with you all day long. I find rock crystal particularly beautiful in combination with black tourmaline: the clear light and deep black create a contrast that also fits together energetically. Combining rock crystal: three pairs that belong together

Because rock crystal is considered an amplifier in crystal healing, it unfolds particularly beautifully in combinations. At the same time, this is a point that is rarely discussed: an amplifier amplifies everything, including any restlessness you may be feeling. If you are very sensitive or get overstimulated easily, it is worth using rock crystal not alone, but with a grounding partner.

Rock crystal and smoky quartz: clarity meets grounding

Mineralogically, smoky quartz is the brother of rock crystal, colored brown by natural radiation. Where rock crystal opens the gaze upward, smoky quartz is meant to bring you back down to earth. Citrine is traditionally associated with joy, courage, and abundance. Together with a rock crystal point, it is said to be able to focus its sunny energy even more clearly. A beautiful combination for new beginnings, for a new project, or simply for gray autumn days.

Is your rock crystal real – or glass?

This question is asked very often, and it is a valid one. Especially with spheres, pyramids, and polished pendants, glass or melted quartz is frequently offered as rock crystal. Melted quartz may have the same chemical formula, but it has lost its crystal structure and is therefore no longer rock crystal. In addition, there is quartz grown in laboratories, which is produced in large quantities for industry. It is real quartz, but it didn't grow in the earth.

The good news is that you can check a lot yourself with a few simple observations. None of these tests is proof on its own, but together they provide a quite reliable picture:

• Look at the inclusions: Glass often contains perfectly round air bubbles. Rock crystal instead shows veils, fine cracks, rainbows, or mineral inclusions.
• Feel the temperature: Rock crystal conducts heat better than glass and therefore feels cool for longer when you hold it in your hand.
• Polarization test: Hold the stone between two polarizing filters, for example, two lenses of polarizing sunglasses that you rotate 90 degrees against each other. Real quartz is birefringent and alternates between light and dark when you turn the stone. Glass usually remains uniformly dark.
• Price and size: A large, absolutely flawless sphere at a very low price is a warning sign.
• Origin: Reputable dealers will tell you the country of origin and are happy to answer your questions.

Why is real rock crystal almost never completely clear?

Almost nobody asks this question, yet it contains the key to understanding natural crystals. Many expect the clarity of glass from a rock crystal and are disappointed when they discover a milky veil or a fine crack. But these are exactly the traces that tell you the crystal grew in nature – under changing pressure, at fluctuating temperatures, over a very long time.

Milky zones are caused by tiny fluid and gas inclusions trapped during growth. Phantoms show earlier growth phases, like the growth rings of a tree. And sometimes other minerals grow in with them: golden rutile needles turn it into rutilated quartz, black tourmaline into tourmalinated quartz, and a coating of iron oxide into a Golden Healer.

A perfectly clear, large sphere without any inclusions is rare in nature and correspondingly precious. If it is very cheap, it is worth a second look. I have a big heart for rock crystals with an "inner life" anyway: they are one-of-a-kind, and no two pieces are the same. 🤍

Cleaning, discharging, and charging rock crystal

Rock crystal is a very low-maintenance stone. It is hard, waterproof, and lightfast, so you can use almost all common methods. In crystal healing, it is even considered a stone that can charge other crystals. That's why many people place their stones and jewelry on a rock crystal plate or in a geode.

Important for spheres: A rock crystal sphere focuses sunlight like a magnifying glass. Never leave it unattended in the bright sun on a windowsill, especially not near curtains, wood, or paper. For charging, the gentle morning sun is more than enough for a short time.

Is rock crystal suitable for water essence?

Yes, rock crystal is a classic water stone. It is chemically very stable and does not release anything into the water. For raw pieces, make sure they are clean and have no foreign mineral deposits. A Golden Healer, for example, has an iron oxide coating and should not be placed directly in the water.

My secret tip: the manifestation quartz 🔮

Among all rock crystals, there is one form that amazes me every time: the manifestation quartz. It contains a fully formed smaller crystal that is completely enclosed by a larger crystal – a crystal within a crystal. For this to happen, the small crystal must have grown first and then been completely enclosed by the large one without destroying the connection. Such pieces are rare and only appear sporadically on the market.
