What is Lithium Lepidolite and what makes it so special?
Lepidolite belongs to the mica mineral family and uniquely contains real lithium, which gives it its characteristic purple-pink to berry coloration. The typical shimmering silver platelets that flash in the light are also a trademark – they are created by the flaky crystal structure of the mica. Lithium Lepidolite from Madagascar is considered particularly high quality and often shows intense colors. With a Mohs hardness of 2.5 to 3, it is relatively soft and should be handled with care. Its distinctive appearance makes it one of the most sought-after stones for spiritual work and as a decorative item.
How do I properly care for my Lithium Lepidolite?
Lepidolite and water do not mix well: Due to its flaky structure and relatively low Mohs hardness of 2.5–3, water can penetrate the surface and damage the stone over time – please do not soak or wet-clean it for extended periods. To clean, a slightly damp, soft cloth passed briefly over the surface is sufficient. For charging, moonlight is excellent – ideally, place it on a windowsill overnight. Alternatively, you can place it on a selenite plate or smudge it with Palo Santo or white sage. Avoid direct, intense sunlight for prolonged periods, as the color may fade.
How do I recognize genuine Lithium Lepidolite?
Genuine Lepidolite shows fine, shimmering mica platelets in the light – this is its unmistakable feature and cannot be faked. The color varies from light pink to lavender to deep berry violet, often with creamy-white or gray inclusions. Sometimes, dyed fluorite or other purple stones are sold as lepidolite – when buying, always look for the mica sheen, which is always visible in genuine lepidolite. Our flames from Madagascar are 100% natural and untreated; the color intensity varies naturally from piece to piece – the largest of our three is the most intensely dark, the smallest a bit lighter.
What distinguishes the three variants from each other?
All three flames come from the same Madagascan source and share the same gentle energy – yet each is an individual. Variant 1 is the largest and shows the darkest, most intense berry violet. Variant 2 is in the middle in terms of size and color – a beautiful balance. Variant 3 is the smallest and has the lightest, most delicate lilac tones. In nature, all three appear somewhat deeper and richer than in the studio photos – the mica platelets sparkle particularly beautifully in indirect daylight.
