Approximately 15 million years ago, a meteorite struck what is now Bavaria – the impact was so massive that molten rock was thrown in an arc over hundreds of kilometers through the atmosphere. What landed and solidified in the Czech Republic: Moldavite. The world's only tektite glass in this intense green color, formed from the interaction of cosmic impact and Bohemian rock. In Czech folklore, it was considered a gift from the gods – newlywed women received Moldavite to ensure their bond remained harmonious forever. Genuine Moldavite always shows a characteristically furrowed, almost sculptural-looking surface with fine grooves and depressions – formed during solidification in the air.
