The eponymous "phantoms" arise when crystal growth is interrupted and other minerals – here with chlorite (green) – deposit on the growth surface before the quartz continues to grow. The result is visible layer lines inside, which look like frozen time capsule recordings. The term Garden Quartz or Shamanic Quartz refers to quartz with chlorite inclusions that resemble lush gardens or landscapes. How do I properly care for my Phantom Quartz pendant?
Phantom Quartz can be briefly cleaned with lukewarm water – simply rinse and gently dry. Recharging energy works wonderfully with moonlight, a selenite plate, or by gentle smudging with Palo Santo or sage. Direct, intense sunlight for hours should be avoided, as color inclusions can change over time. Regularly check the black cord for wear.
How do I recognize real Phantom Quartz?
Real phantom inclusions run organically irregularly within the stone – they don't follow a perfect pattern and are three-dimensionally visible in the crystal. Dyed glass or synthetic quartz, on the other hand, appears too uniformly clear and shows no natural growth marks or veiled clouds.
