This agate slice is a miniature natural painting: warm honey and amber tones meet deep dark brown and mysterious blue-gray, while feathery quartz crystals shimmer like frozen smoke in the center. Hidden within is a small druzy inclusion – the geode's secret eye. In the optional tealight holder, it stands upright like a natural work of art, catching the light differently on each side.

The dramatic bands of color in this agate slice tell a story that began over 100 million years ago – in the lava tubes of what is now southern Brazil. The Rio Grande do Sul region belongs to the Paraná Basin, one of the world's largest basalt plateaus. As the lava cooled, gas bubbles remained, into which silica-rich water seeped over millennia. Each layer of color represents a different chemical composition: iron colors the outer bands warm honey and amber , manganese creates the dark, almost mystical stripes, and pure chalcedony shimmers a delicate white. The feathery crystal patterns in the interior – known as plume structures – form when quartz is allowed to deposit particularly slowly and undisturbed. A process that requires more patience than any human lifetime.

How do I clean and care for my agate slice?
A soft, slightly damp cloth is all you need to keep the disc clean. You can recharge it energetically in moonlight or on a selenite bowl. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent the natural colors from fading.
Why do the front and back look different?
That's the beauty of agate slices! When cutting the geode, you create two sides with slightly different appearances – depending on how the light hits them, the color depth and transparency change. The photos were taken with front and back lighting. You can easily flip the slice over in the wooden holder to change its look.
