Adular raw stones from the Ahrntal valley in Italy, each with its own unique crystal shape: the large one at 33mm shows a delicate chlorite inclusion, the medium one at 26mm glows gold, the small one at 20mm bears tiny rainbow reflections and a hint of green. Wonderfully suitable for collecting, as a worry stone, or for the windowsill.
You love moonstone, but your collection is missing something that not everyone has—a piece that comes from the Alps instead of the usual mass-produced goods. This is exactly where Adular comes into play: it is the mineral that moonstone is actually made of, but it is rarely found so natural and directly from the source area. Each of the three specimens shows its own personality—from the greenish-shimmering chlorite piece to the golden raw stone to the small crystal with tiny rainbow sparks in the light.
Its effect is valued similarly to that of moonstone: for gentle intuition, emotional balance, and the connection to cyclical, feminine energies. I recommend it for the bedside table or the windowsill, where it reveals its subtle play of color in changing light. If you would like to buy real Adular, you will find pieces here directly from one of the rarest alpine locations—not mass-produced, but with genuine crystal form and character. Choose your favorite: A, B, or C—each one is waiting for you.
💡 Affirmation: I trust my intuition and allow for gentle changes.

Frequently asked questions about Adular
What is Adular and what distinguishes it from moonstone?
Adular is an orthoclase feldspar with a Mohs hardness of 6 to 6.5 and is strictly speaking the mineral to which moonstone owes its name—named after the Adula Massif in the Alps. While commercially available moonstone usually comes from India or Sri Lanka and is often polished, these are natural, untreated raw stones from the original alpine region. The typical milky, shimmering play of color is created by fine intergrowths of two types of feldspar in the crystal lattice. This gives you the stone in its most original, untreated form.
How do I properly care for my Adular?
Adular can be rinsed briefly with clear water, but should not remain wet for long periods, as feldspar can have fine cleavage cracks. You should avoid strong chemicals and ultrasonic baths. Direct, prolonged exposure to sunlight can fade the delicate hues over time—a shady spot is better. To charge it, consistent with its kinship to moonstone, especially gentle moonlight or a night next to a selenite plate is suitable.
How do I know the play of color is natural?
Genuine Adular shows its shimmer, known as adularescence, only at certain angles of light and appears more milky-bluish to golden, never garish or uniform like dyed glass. The chlorite inclusions in some of the pieces are distributed irregularly and appear like fine greenish clouds in the stone—a typical sign of naturalness. In artificially treated stones, this irregularity is usually completely absent, and the color often sits only on the surface.
Why is Adular from the Ahrntal valley so rare on the market?
The deposits in the Ahrntal valley in South Tyrol are small, difficult to access, and are not industrially mined like large moonstone mines in Asia. The yield of crystals with clear form and visible play of color is correspondingly low, which makes these pieces a rarity for collectors and mineral enthusiasts.
