Arfvedsonite is a rare sodium-lithium silicate that crystallized millions of years ago in igneous rocks. It is named after the Swedish chemist Johan August Arfwedson. The most striking feature is the blue to greenish-blue flashes (pleochroism) that appear on the otherwise usually deep black or dark gray surface when the stone is moved in the light.

- Color: Black, dark green, or brownish-black.
