I found this stone myself in Tyrol, carefully smoothed its edges, and drilled it so you can wear it close to you. What makes this limestone with azurite-malachite so special?
Azurite is a copper mineral of the carbonate class (Mohs hardness 3.5–4) and forms through the weathering of copper-bearing ores in limestone – which is exactly what you see here: the light limestone host rock has absorbed the deep blue pigments of azurite over millennia. The accompanying green comes from malachite, which often occurs together with azurite because both share the same formation process. What makes this find special: it comes from Tyrol, one of the rare alpine localities in Europe.
How do I properly care for my azurite-limestone pendant?
Azurite is a delicate mineral with a Mohs hardness of only 3.5–4 – it should not be exposed to water for extended periods or to direct, strong sunlight, as it can fade. To clean, simply wipe dry with a soft cloth. Moonlight is wonderful for energetic charging – one night on the windowsill during a full moon is enough – or you can place it briefly on a raw selenite stone. Ultrasonic baths and steam cleaners are absolutely forbidden. The black cord can be easily replaced or exchanged for a rolo chain from the shop.
How do I recognize real azurite in limestone?
Real azurite shows an irregular, organically appearing blue – sometimes intense, sometimes in delicate veins, never uniformly applied. Dyed or synthetic imitations often appear too smooth and too uniform in color. With this stone, you see the typical intergrowth with the light limestone matrix and, in places, the transition to green malachite – this is a reliable sign of authenticity. Since I collected and processed this stone myself in Tyrol, you can be absolutely sure of its origin and authenticity.
Can I wear the pendant with a different chain?
Yes, absolutely! The stone is drilled and comes with a black cord (1 m, adjustable knot) – which is sufficient for most wearing styles. If you prefer to wear it on a silver rolo chain or a silver omega collar, you will find suitable options directly in our shop. Both variants complement the calm, natural look of this stone in their own way.
