What makes this specimen so exceptional: an independent fluorite inclusion was encased by the quartz during growth – an extremely rare event that is hardly found in this quality in new finds from Brazil. Fluorite (CaF₂) is one of the most fluorescent minerals on Earth – its name is actually the origin of the term "fluorescence." How do I properly care for my Clear Quartz with Fluorite Inclusion?
Clear quartz with a Mohs hardness of 7 can be briefly rinsed under lukewarm water – gently dab dry with a soft cloth. Caution: Fluorite has a Mohs hardness of only 4 and is more sensitive to acids and mechanical impact; since the fluorite here is enclosed, it is well protected, but a long water bath should not take place. How do I recognize real Clear Quartz and is the color natural?
Real clear quartz sometimes shows prismatic rainbows due to internal cracks – this is clearly visible in this specimen. The slight pink tone of this stone is a natural optical phenomenon due to light refraction at internal structures and possible iron traces – it has not been dyed or treated. The yellow UV fluorescence is a mineralogical characteristic of the natural fluorite inclusion and is not an indication of treatment, but on the contrary, a sign of genuine mineral inclusions. Natural imperfections in the polish and internal structures are part of the unique character of this stone.
Can I really see the rainbows and the UV fluorescence?
Yes – the rainbows are created by internal cracks (so-called "fractures") that refract light prismatically; they are most clearly visible in bright daylight or direct incidence of a light source and can vary slightly depending on the angle. The UV fluorescence of the fluorite inclusion is clearly visible with a simple UV lamp (black light, 365 nm or 395 nm) – the inclusion then glows yellowish-orange from within. Both effects are natural, unique, and non-reproducible – which is why this find is considered a true rarity among collectors and spiritual practitioners.
