Bergkristall ist die reinste Varietät des Minerals Quarz (SiO₂) mit einer Mohshärte von 7. Er entsteht über Millionen Jahre in hydrothermalen Gängen und Geoden, wenn sich siliziumreiche Lösung langsam abkühlt und auskristallisiert. Was dieses Exemplar besonders macht, sind die natürlichen Regenbogenreflexe im Inneren: Sie entstehen durch feine innere Risse, sogenannte Veils oder Feathers, die das Licht brechen und prismatisch streuen – kein behandelter Stein, pure Natur. Solche Regenbogen-Bergkristalle sind unter Kristallsammlern besonders beliebt, weil sie das Licht lebendig machen.
Wie pflege ich meinen Bergkristall richtig?
Bergkristall mit Mohshärte 7 ist robust und darf problemlos kurz mit klarem, lauwarmem Wasser abgespült werden – kein langes Einweichen, das kann die Politur der facettierten Flächen langfristig mattieren. Sonne verträgt er gut, werde aber vorsichtig: Bei starker Sonneneinstrahlung und brennbaren Materialien in der Nähe kann er als Brennglas wirken! Am liebsten lädt er sich auf einem Selenit-Rohstein oder über Nacht im Mondlicht auf. Räuchern mit Palo Santo oder Salbei ist ebenfalls eine sanfte Möglichkeit zur Energetisierung.
Woran erkenne ich echten Bergkristall?
Echter Bergkristall fühlt sich kühler an als Kunststoff und erwärmt sich nur sehr langsam in der Hand – ein erstes gutes Zeichen. Im Inneren sieht man oft natürliche Einschlüsse, Wachstumsschleier oder Risse, die bei Kunstharz oder Pressglas fehlen.
