What is noble shungite and why is it special?
Noble shungite is a rare, highly pure variety of shungite with a carbon content of over 98 percent – compared to regular shungite (Type II) with 50–80 percent carbon. It contains naturally occurring fullerenes (C60), spherical carbon molecules that are extremely rare in nature. It is almost exclusively found in the Shunga region of Karelia, Russia. Its Mohs hardness is approximately 3.5–4. Its silky-metallic luster and deep black color make it unmistakable at first glance.
How do I properly care for my noble shungite pendant?
Noble shungite can be briefly held under running water – but please do not store or soak it permanently, as it can release carbon residues. For recharging, moonlight overnight or placing it on a selenite plate is best. Direct, intense sunlight over a long period should be avoided, as the surface can become dull. You can easily replace the black cord if needed – thin wax cords or leather cords are narrow enough for the fine drill hole.
How do I recognize real noble shungite?
Real noble shungite has a characteristic, slightly silvery-metallic luster on its fracture surfaces and never appears completely dull. Dyed black stones do not have this conductive property and often feel smoother and more uniform than natural noble shungite. Regular shungite can leave black marks on the skin, but noble shungite does not.
Does noble shungite really protect against electrosmog?
The discussion about electrosmog and shungite is lively – the effect on electromagnetic fields has not yet been scientifically proven. However, in crystal lore and energy work, noble shungite has long been described as one of the strongest protective and grounding stones, said to shield against energetic burdens and calm the nervous system.
