What makes this fluorite pendant so special?
Fluorite is a calcium fluoride mineral with a Mohs hardness of 4 and is one of the most fascinating stones of all – because it occurs in almost every color. This specimen shows an unusually clear blue-violet tint, which arises from traces of manganese and rare earths in the crystal lattice. The combination of its raw natural shape and smoothed surface makes it a true character piece that you won't see twice. The drilling is made so that it can be worn both on the included black cord and on the pea chain from the shop.
How do I properly care for my fluorite pendant?
Fluorite has a Mohs hardness of only 4, so it is more delicate than many other gemstones and should not be stored with harder stones. It tolerates water for a short time – a quick rinse is not a problem, but prolonged soaking should be avoided. For charging, I recommend moonlight, a selenite rough stone, or smoke cleansing with sage. Direct sunlight can cause the color to fade over time, so it's better to store it in the shade.
How do I recognize real fluorite?
Real fluorite feels cool to the touch at first, but quickly warms up to body temperature. It often shows a certain transparency with natural internal structures and color gradients – no two pieces look identical. On the market, there is colored glass or synthetic resin sold as fluorite – however, real fluorite is significantly heavier and cooler than plastic and does not show perfect color homogeneity.
