This green lepidolite from Mali is an exceptional piece – and I mean that literally. Lepidolite is usually known in lilac, rosé, or silver-gray from Brazil and Madagascar. This specimen presents itself in a rich green and comes from West Africa, a location rarely associated with this mineral. In hand, it feels velvety soft, almost like silk, and its layered mica sheets form a natural rosette that looks as if the earth itself created a blossom.

Lepidolite – also known as lithium mica – is considered a stone of inner peace and self-reflection. Its gentle, earthy energy helps you to view problems with the necessary distance and find solutions where there was previously only a whirlwind of thoughts. In meditation, it acts like a green protective cloak: it helps you to set boundaries when external pressure becomes too strong, and at the same time strengthens your self-confidence and inner serenity. Its connection to the heart chakra makes it a wonderful companion for anyone who wants to work on self-love – without losing themselves.
Do you know what particularly fascinates me about this piece? This incredible rose shape. The individual mica layers have folded into this blossom-like structure over millions of years under enormous pressure – layer by layer, like the pages of an ancient book. If you hold it up to the light, you can see how the leaves shimmer in various shades of green – from deep forest green to light, almost transparent sage green. The macro shots show you the finest details: tiny crystal windows through which the light falls like through church glass.
The exciting thing about lepidolite is its chemistry: it belongs to the lithium-containing micas and is therefore one of the few minerals that are actually mined as a source of lithium. Trace elements in the crystal lattice determine the color – manganese produces the typical lilac, other admixtures make it appear greenish. This piece has a strong, clear green hue that clearly distinguishes it from the paler specimens.
