Pink Tourmaline – also known as Rubellite in deep red hues – is one of the most coveted gemstones in the world. In the 18th century, the first tourmalines were brought from Brazil to Europe, where they were immediately mistaken for rubies – so intense was their color. Russian tsars had rubellites incorporated into their crown jewels; many of these "rubies" later turned out to be tourmaline. How do I care for my raw Tourmaline pendant?
Raw tourmaline in matrix is a bit more delicate than polished stones – no long water baths, no ultrasonic cleaners. Wipe gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Energetically, you can cleanse it wonderfully with smudging (rosewood or palo santo work well) or in moonlight. Keep the adjustable cord dry. 💗
What is the difference between Pink Tourmaline and Rubellite?
Pink Tourmaline and Rubellite are the same mineral – only the name differs depending on the color intensity. Lighter, more delicate pink hues are usually referred to as Pink Tourmaline.
