Star rose quartz is even rarer – the six-rayed star that glides across the surface when light hits it is created by tiny rutile needles inside the quartz, which intersect in three directions and precisely reflect light. How do I best see the star effect?
The asterism is most clearly visible under a pinpoint light source – a flashlight, a candle, or direct sunlight. The 4mm beads of the bracelet are a bit too small to discover the star in the rose quartz.
What is the difference between star rose quartz and ordinary rose quartz?
Ordinary rose quartz is opaque to slightly translucent and shows no special light phenomenon. Star rose quartz contains fine rutile needles that intersect in three directions and create a six-rayed star when light hits them. It is also often more transparent and clearer than normal rose quartz.
