Red Jasper is an opaque variety of quartz and belongs to the chalcedony family, with a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7. Its characteristic red to brick red color is due to hematite (iron oxide) inclusions, which have been distributed in fine-grained sediment over millions of years. What makes it special: No two stones look alike – the delicate patterns and color gradients are always unique. Red Jasper from Namibia is considered by collectors to be particularly color-intensive and high-quality.
Can I clean my Red Jasper bracelet with water?
Yes, Red Jasper tolerates brief contact with clear water – a quick rinse is perfectly fine. However, make sure to let the elastic band dry thoroughly afterwards before wearing the bracelet again, as standing water can damage the elastic in the long run. Moonlight is wonderful for energetic charging – simply place it on the windowsill overnight. Alternatively, place it on a selenite plate or briefly smudge it with sage or palo santo.
