How hard is Shungite and can it break when worn?
Shungite has a Mohs hardness of 3.5–4, making it softer than quartz or amethyst. As a tumbled stone in your pocket, it is well protected, but avoid hard knocks against metal or other stones. Over time, the surface will become slightly duller due to normal wear and tear – this is a natural process and does not change its energy.
Does Shungite stain and how do I recognize genuine Shungite?
Normal Shungite can initially stain slightly – this is even a sign of authenticity! Tumbled stones are hardly affected after the first wash.
How do I clean and care for my Shungite tumbled stone?
Rinse under lukewarm running water before first use. Wipe regularly with a damp cloth at your workspace. Recharge energetically during a full moon or briefly in the morning sun. Shungite is one of the most uncomplicated protection stones – robust, easy to care for, and durable.
