It belongs to the copper mineral family and forms when copper-rich water reacts with oxygen—a geological process that produces stones of this quality in only a few places worldwide. Shattuckite is a delicate copper mineral – no water, no cleaning agents. Dusting it with a soft, dry cloth is perfectly sufficient. You can energetically cleanse it beautifully with incense (Palo Santo or Sage) or a night in the moonlight. Avoid direct sunlight for extended periods – it can affect the intense color over time. What distinguishes shattuckite from chrysocolla and turquoise?
All three are copper-bearing bluestones – but shattuckite is the rarest and most intense of the three. Chrysocolla is softer and often opaque. Turquoise is more stable and widespread.
