First discovered in Japan in 1944 and named after the Japanese geologist Ken-ichi Sugi, this extraordinary stone is now almost exclusively sourced from the Wessels Mine in South Africa . Its intense violet color – ranging from delicate lavender to deep royal purple – makes it an absolute favorite among collectors and crystal enthusiasts.
What makes sugilite so special: The finest specimens display a luminous, almost ethereal violet hue , unlike anything found in any other gemstone in the world.
