Super Seven, also called Melody Stone or Sacred Seven, is a rare combination of seven minerals in a host rock: Amethyst, Smoky Quartz, Clear Quartz, Cacoxenite, Goethite, Lepidocrocite, and Rutile. All seven occur together in a single piece – this makes it globally unique. The best-known and highest-quality source is in Espírito Santo, Brazil. Due to the combination of minerals, it is considered particularly versatile and powerful in crystal work – it combines protection, clarity, grounding, and spiritual openness in one.
Why isn't my Super Seven transparent – is it still real?
Absolutely! Most Super Seven stones are not transparent, and that's a good sign. The many inclusions – Cacoxenite (gold-brown needles), Lepidocrocite (reddish veils), and Goethite (dark streaks) – cause clouding and give the stone its typical, lively appearance. Real Super Seven stones from Espírito Santo often show an interplay of violet, smoky brown, and gold-brown specks. With backlighting, a beautiful shimmer can become visible – especially with the polished tips. How do I properly care for and clean my Super Seven?
Super Seven has a Mohs hardness of about 7 (quartz base) and can be briefly cleaned under running water – but do not soak, as Cacoxenite and Goethite can be more sensitive. Direct, prolonged sun exposure is not recommended, as the amethyst content can fade. It is best to charge it overnight in moonlight, on a selenite plate, or by smudging with Palo Santo or white sage. It is a low-maintenance companion – treat it like a valuable friend, not a tool.
What distinguishes Super Seven from Espírito Santo from other sources?
Espírito Santo is considered the original source of Super Seven – it was here that the first specimens were described by the author Melody, who also gave the stone its second name. Stones from this region often show particularly pronounced inclusion patterns and a high density of minerals. There are now similar stones from other regions of Brazil that are sold as "Super Seven," but vary in quality and composition.
